TERI Department – Objectives
The TERI department, under the direction of Dr. Julien Marie and Pr. Pierre Saintigny, gathers the complementary expertise of research teams assessing the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in tumor progression to propose novel therapeutic targets against cancer.
The plasticity, the apoptosis and resistance of the tumor cells as well as their interplay with the immune system is particularly investigated, at all stages of the disease from preneoplasia to established and advanced disease. The targeting of selected proteins involved in the tumor progression, tumor immune-escape and resistance to available treatments are also addressed. The research relies on innovative molecular and cellular technologies approaches. Cohort of patients, suitable in vivo models, and medicinal chemistry are exploited by the TERI teams all animated by a clear willing to translate their discoveries into the clinic. The TERI department is also involved in spreading the knowledge, with the program of Immunology and Cancer, Mechanisms of cancers as well as Translational and clinical research classes taught by TERI department members in the Master Cancer of Lyon 1 university.
