Over the last decade, the biological study of persister cells has revealed their involvement in various cancer types and treatment modalities, especially as a significant factor in cancer treatment failure. Unlike resistant cells, which harbour genetic alterations enabling survival despite therapy, persister cells exhibit transient drug tolerance through reversible, non-mutational mechanisms. This can cause cancer patients to experience recurrence despite an encouraging initial response to therapy.
On 18-20 March 2025, the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) is holding a conference in Lyon to discuss this rare subset of cells. The meeting will bring together investigators from various fields to explore the molecular mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and emerging clinical implications of cancer persister cells, and aims to foster collaboration and community-building in this pivotal and rapidly growing area of research.
Register by 17 February 2025 to secure your place at this conference and be part of the conversation about cancer persister cells!
