Equity and inclusion department
This committee, created in 2020, includes 6 members (3 men and 3 women) and organizes general meetings every three months. Its main role is to propose measures, such as communication and awareness-raising, to encourage gender equality within the CRCL.
In 2021, two of the members attended the training course “Gender equality in the workplace: what are we talking about?” organized by the CNRS Délégation Rhône Auvergne.
Institutional action plans and posters against sexual and gender-based violence are available on the extranet site, as well as in the entrance halls of each building, next to the contact information of the corresponding personnel. The display screens are used to communicate different events and content, such as quizzes, information and images for reflection and awareness-raising. Furthermore, a round-table
discussion was organized at the CRCL retreat in 2021, as well as in 2023, and will be repeated in 2025. In addition, the Matilda Effect exhibition was also part of the retreat program, producing a surprising effect on readers. The CNRS monthly newsletter Egalité is also distributed throughout the CRCL.
Since 2019, and even more so since the creation of the committee, the CRCL has been committed to improving gender equality and took part as a pilot unit for Inserm’s parity-equality mission, producing a Gender Score report that is generated twice a year, illustrating the male-female ratio according to hierarchical positions. Although women are generally hired for positions with less responsibility, the
statistics have improved in recent years and are becoming more equitable. Between 2021 and 2023, three women and 4 men were recruited as researchers. Four women were promoted to Research Director (DR) positions. In January 2025, four team leaders are due to retire and their positions will be occupied by women.
